Sylvain Geboers was born on the 28th of March in 1945. He lives in Mol, which is the Flemish part of Belgium where the sand tracks are plentiful. He soon became interested in motocross. He started racing by the time he was 16, straddling a big-bore, heavy 4-stroke machine.

The Belgian racer, known as a sand specialist, Sylvain finished in the top three of 250 GP’s for five straight years from 1968 to 1972. He raced for the CZ factory, and then the Suzuki powerhouse which included Joel Robert and Roger DeCoster. Sylvain won 2018-11-03 Sylvain Geboers passed the Suzuki World MXGP reigns and his life’s work over to Stefan Everts six months ago, moving himself into the background, but he has had a front-row seat witnessing ‘The Legend’s’ impact in the team.

Sylvain Geboers is one of the true pioneers of Motocross in America. Geboers along with names like Torsten Hallman, Roger De Coster and Joel Robert brought GP Motocross to America in a time when the American series was just a minor series in the World.

But Sylvain wasn’t the only brother of young Eric that was active in motocross, Louis, Diseré and Jan were also fanatical riders. Motocross was expensive, though it got a lot easier for the entire Geboers family when a supporter’s club was erected to help finance it all and to jump-start Sylvain’s career.
